climate and nature crisis
The climate and nature crisis is a multi-pronged emergency impacting all aspects of British life, from national security to the food supply. This briefing was commissioned to report the latest evidence, make clear what is at stake, and outline actionable solutions.
Expert Briefings
On 27th November, ten of the UK’s leading experts briefed an invited audience of over 1,200 politicians and leaders from business, culture, faith, sport and the media with the latest implications for health, food, national security and the economy.

This evidence is now on the public record.
What follows from this evidence?
When independent experts set out credible evidence of escalating national risk, those in public office have a responsibility to ensure the public is informed and prepared.
The National Emergency Briefing has brought that evidence together, and we have outlined how this responsibility could be discharged.
That's our home, it's the only one we've got. It’s where all of our species has lived and died, everyone, every single human.
It's where we breathe, it's where we eat, we laugh, we cry, we love, we hate and as far as we know, together with all the other wonderful life on Earth we are the only known life forms in the universe and we've got nowhere else to go.

The Film
Getting ahead of the crisis
A full documentary from the briefing is now in production, expected for release in March. It will bring the science, testimonies and national implications together in one compelling film. Once released, it will be available for community screenings across the UK.
Community screenings will enable MPs and other decision-makers to see the same evidence - on the record - as those briefed in Westminster.
If your organisation, arts venue, community hall or local cinema is interested in hosting a showing, please register your interest by filling in the form on our Take Action page.
The documentary is an opportunity to open up informed conversation where it matters most: within communities deciding how to respond to the crisis.

“The National Emergency Briefing could not be more timely. The science is moving fast, and every year the risks become clearer. Britain has led before, and we must lead again - not with words, but with action to protect our people, our prosperity and our children’s future. But first, all policymakers must ensure they are fully informed."
