We passed 100,000 signatures. What happens next?

With your help, Chris Packham’s petition calling on the government to deliver a televised emergency briefing crossed the 100k signatures target three months ahead of its end date, and now stands at 112k! Many thanks to everyone who signed and shared it.
The petition runs until November, so let’s see how many extra names we can add before a Parliamentary debate happens.
Over 3,400 screenings on the map, and growing fast

We may have hit our petition target, but that doesn’t mean we can stop hosting screenings. We need the People’s Emergency Briefing film to reach as many people as possible to:
build the support needed to persuade the government to stage its own televised emergency briefing, introduced by the Prime Minister and delivered by independent experts - this is the best way to reach everyone; and
get on with briefing the nation whilst we wait for the government to catch up.
New screening registrations continue to grow, with over 3,400 screenings now on our interactive map (hint: click ‘view as table’ to see more details). We estimate this equates to around 190,000 viewers, which is only 0.3% of the UK population. So there’s lots more to do!
Whether you’re a new screening host or an experienced one, we now have dedicated packs for community, workplace, and council screenings. Plus, our new schools initiative for 16 to 18 year olds is launching this autumn. Whatever kind of event you’re hosting, we can support you all the way through the process to make it stress-free.
A key Parliamentary debate next Thursday

On Thursday next week (3rd Sept), MPs will debate the suppressed Joint Intelligence Committee report ‘Global Biodiversity Loss, Ecosystem Collapse and National Security’ in Westminster Hall. Our friends and allies at The Climate Coalition, The Climate Majority Project, and Zero Hour are asking everyone to email their MP and ensure they attend this vital debate.
We are calling on the government to release the report, written by MI5 and MI6 and suppressed by Number 10, in full. We also call on the government to release the suppressed 2024 Defra Futures food security report, which warns of the risk of ‘catastrophic failure of UK food systems by 2030’ without urgent action.
This 9 minute ITN report on the suppressed report, featuring NEB experts Angela Francis and Lt General Richard Nugee, is well worth watching. ITN reports having seen extracts from the full report, including warnings such as the risk of mass mortality events.
We strongly believe that the public has a right to know about threats that affect them. Only then can the nation both prepare and start taking commensurate action to cut emissions. It’s time to start treating people as adults. National resilience depends on an informed population.
Thank you to the new Parliamentary Call signatories

Every week, more MPs are calling for the government to level with the public, with 149 now signed up to the Parliamentary Call and/or the Early Day Motion.
Thank you to the 9 MPs above who joined our Parliamentary Call in the last fortnight. As numbers continue to grow, the data is showing that more screenings of the film translate into a significantly higher likelihood that an MP supports briefing the public. People power definitely works, so please keep hosting, writing and talking.
