The climate and nature crisis threatens all aspects of British life, from national security to the food supply - but solutions exist.

The National Emergency Briefing was commissioned to present the latest evidence, and build an irresistible call for the Government to stage a televised briefing, launch an emergency response, and help lead global action.

The National Emergency Briefing was commissioned to present the latest evidence, and build an irresistible call for the Government to stage a televised briefing, launch an emergency response, and lead global action.

The Westminster Briefing

Last November, ten of the UK’s leading experts briefed an invited audience of over 1,200 politicians and leaders from business, culture, faith, sport and the media.

The briefing set out the implications of climate and nature breakdown for health, food systems, national security and the economy.

Taking it nationwide

A 45-minute film will take the message into communities across the UK from this April.

Screenings in village halls, cinemas, faith spaces and workplaces will bring constituents, civic leaders and MPs together to hear the evidence - and consider what an emergency response should look like.

"That's our home, it's the only one we've got. It’s where all of our species has lived and died, everyone, every single human.

It's where we breathe, it's where we eat, we laugh, we cry, we love, we hate and as far as we know, together with all the other wonderful life on Earth we are the only known life forms in the universe and we've got nowhere else to go."

Taking the evidence beyond Westminster

A full documentary from the briefing is now in production. It will bring the science and national implications together in one compelling film. It will be available for community screenings across the UK from 7th April.

The film is designed for communities to watch together with their MP and other local decision makers - to see the same evidence - on the record - as those briefed in Westminster.

If you are in a position to secure multiple screenings via your networks, could you help by becoming an NEB Connector?

“It was shocking, but it also showed a way forward. With immediate policy action we can still avoid the worst. The window is small, but it exists.”

“The National Emergency Briefing could not be more timely. The science is moving fast, and every year the risks become clearer. Britain has led before, and we must lead again - not with words, but with action to protect our people, our prosperity and our children’s future. But first, all policymakers must ensure they are fully informed."

“We face a climate emergency. MPs need to be awake to the risks and ready for action, which is why I ask them to prioritise attending a local screening of the People's Emergency Briefing film."
