"There is a strong commitment to explaining both the risks and the response in a clear and accessible way"

This claim is difficult to reconcile with the Government's handling of a recent climate and security assessment. Earlier this year, The Times reported that a government-commissioned national security report warning of risks including food system disruption, mass migration, nuclear war - driven by collapsing ecosystems - had been withheld from publication.
If ministers genuinely believe the public should understand the scale of the risks we face, wouldn't assessments of this significance should be actively communicated rather than kept out of public view?
More broadly, there remains a striking gap between the scale of the threat described by the Government's own advisers and the way it is communicated to the public. Most people are still unaware that climate change poses severe risks to UK food security, health, infrastructure, national security and economic stability. That is precisely why we are calling for a nationally televised emergency briefing.
