View: "The Ofcom Broadcasting Code would prevent the government staging televised briefing

Quick Reply

The Parliamentary Call is not asking broadcasters to promote a particular political party or policy programme. Rather, it is asking for a public briefing on climate and nature risks led by independent experts, similar to how broadcasters regularly cover public health, national security or other major public-interest issues.

Ofcom's impartiality rules apply to matters of political controversy and public policy, but they do not prevent broadcasters from communicating evidence-based scientific findings or expert risk assessments.
